Waste transfer station software for UK receiving sites
Record each receipt, check the carrier and the site permit, and submit to Defra Digital Waste Tracking.
Who must report, and when
| Nation | Receiving sites |
|---|---|
| England and Wales | Mandatory from 1 October 2026. Report a receipt within 2 working days. |
| Scotland | 1 January 2027, per SEPA. |
| Northern Ireland | 1 January 2027, per Defra guidance. |
Scotland and Northern Ireland are set out on the Scotland and Northern Ireland deadline page. The England and Wales duty is on Digital Waste Tracking.
Weigh-in and ANPR
Weigh-in, weigh-out and ANPR at the gate are covered on weighbridge software.
Carrier references and site permits
The carrier reference is checked, including the nightly check against the Environment Agency public register. The site permit is logged on the disposal site. The EWC code comes from your catalogue.
Submitted to Defra
AxiWaste logs the waste transfer note and submits the receipt to Defra Digital Waste Tracking through the Receipt of Waste API.
The submission carries the EWC code and the weight from the visit. Waste transfer notes explains the note that sits underneath it.
Printed, emailed, or both
Customer tickets and receipts can be printed, emailed, or both. The customer leaves with the same weights that are on the waste transfer note.
Inbound and outbound records
Waste received at the site and waste leaving it are each stored as a movement. The record holds the vehicle, the weight, the EWC code, the carrier reference and the waste transfer note.
